Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor

LOCATION:  Charleston, SC

Job Summary: Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of physician.  Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician.

 

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include any and/or all of the following:

  • Coordinates development, implementation, and maintenance of community research studies and projects; recruits subjects; conducts follow-up surveys; collects data for existing and future projects.
  • Designs and conducts studies; writes manuscripts for peer-review publications; conducts statistical analysis of data.
  • Serves as liaison between the University, local and state government agencies, and other participating agencies; provides consulting assistance to various organizations; organizes media events including press conferences.
  • Collects, enters, analyzes, and presents data; completes assigned reports as required by government or agency officials; attends training and in-service sessions.
  • Contributes to the design and creation of communications and public relations tools; coordinates meetings among community, faculty, research teams, and support staff.
  • Assists the principal investigator, research manager, and financial coordinator with various administrative tasks associated with the day-to-day operations of research studies and projects.
  • Assigns and reviews research-related work and tasks given to research assistants and students; performs other duties as assigned.

Registered Nurse (RN, BSN)

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

JOB SUMMARY: Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and pain care management in correlation with medical directors guidance. Licensing or registration required.

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • RN, BSN
  • 1-2 years experience, Pain/Procedure work preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
  • Records patients’ medical information and vital signs.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition.
  • Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions.
  • Consults and coordinates with health care team members/physician to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Monitors all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
  • Instructs individuals, families and other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention, and develop health improvement programs.
  • Prepares patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.
  • Requests blood thinner holds from Primary Care Physicians (PCP) as needed in order to perform patient procedures.
  • Orders medical supplies as needed for the procedure room.
  • Trains new clinical staff on specific procedures and job related duties per clinic guidelines.
  • Administers patient Intravenous therapy (IV) in accordance with procedure being performed at the time of service.

Front Desk Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer

LOCATION: Charleston, SC

SUMMARY: Perform secretarial duties including scheduling appointments, compiling and recording medical charts, reports, and correspondence all in accordance with Pain Specialists of Charleston’s policies and procedures.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND WORK RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • Internship or previous work related experience (Preferred concentration in Business Administration)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Operational knowledge of basic computer software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, etc)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Answers telephones, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
  • Schedules and confirm s patient appointments including procedure and medical consultations.
  • Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff.
  • Scans incoming information into patient charts to maintain the most up to date documentation on patient’s medical history/demographic information.
  • Provides personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers and patients.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Collects payments, take patient picture (if applicable), and post payments to patient’s account.
  • Operates office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, and other software applications to prepare reports, letters, and medical records.

JOB SUMMARY:

Massage Therapist

Job Title: Deep Tissue Massage Therapist

Reports To: Practice Manager

Summary:  This position is an independent contractor position.  Applicants must have a current massage license and insurance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Pain Specialists of Charleston will provide supplies, referrals and all marketing materials.  The massage therapist is responsible for:

  • Client retention
  • Performing evaluations and re-evaluations according to standards and recommended techniques.
  • Establishing and implementing individualized treatment plan of care (including appropriate goal setting, treatment activities and frequency).
  • Providing patient notes and appropriate documentation of all proceedings to ensure program quality and meet practice and insurance reimbursement standards.

Insurance Specialist

Summary:  Obtain information from insured or designated persons for purpose of settling claim with insurance carrier. In addition, coordinates with medical director to assign which insurance providers the practice will participate with in order to benefit Pain Specialists of Charleston.

2012 Clinical Internships

Reports to: Clinical Manager

Location: Charleston, SC

 Summary:  Students will have the opportunity to shadow and learn from the clinical staff at Pain Specialists of Charleston.   Students will receive hands-on, real world experience within a successful private practice.  Students will gain an understanding of pain managements, patient care and the practice of medicine.

 Requirements:

•         Must be a Junior in college

•         Must be a  healthcare science major

•         Must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

•         Must be seriously considering a career in health care

•         Start Date: May 2012 (start date flexible)

•         Duration: 10 weeks

•         End Date: August 2012 (or as determined by start date)

•         Full Time: 40 hours/week

•         Compensation: $10.00/hour

•         Monthly stipend: TBD
